This video highlights how Terry Kath could sing and play lead guitar simultaneously. Very hard thing to do. Even most of the guitar greats switch to rhythm playing whilst they’re singing. Listening to their fourth album, Live at Carnegie Hall, you hear him playing even more complicated notes while singing this song. He remains one of the best of all time, in my book.

Jimmy Hendrix once told Peter Cetera that Kath was a better guitar player than he was. That's high praise indeed... If Kath hadn't have killed himself, he probably would have killed somebody else. He had a dangerous fixation with guns, suicide and death...What is it about Musical Brilliance that drives so many toward self-destruction?... Such a waste....For the record, Eddy Van Halen listed Kath as one of his biggest influences...Kath killed himself at 31, Hendrix drank himself to death at 27, Cobain died by suicide at 27, Eddy died, way too young, from throat cancer, brought on by excessive smoking & alcohol consumption at 65*

Only thing lagging in this performance is the drummer is a tad off. Everything else is sublime

I get a kick out of those videos showing people mostly young people listening to this performance for the first time. At the part a few seconds after Terrys solo starts and everyone around start to see somthing special is happening ..that moment those young kids have a mushroom cloud coming out of the top of their heads...because there minds are being blown! These people will never ever be the same. No going back. The look on the face of these babys is of happy shock and utter amazement. I like seeing people find out something that is so good and mood altering is out there in the world. And they didnt even know it until that moment they heard his solo. They won't ever forget that moment or this band or this song and concert and a solo by terry kath that twisted there heads off. Love it. You guys should see one of these and remember when it happened to you. Highly recommend it.

It was winter of 1970 at Penn State and I had two tickets for Chicago at Rec Hall. For reasons I can' recall after 50 years, I ended up with an extra ticket that I decided to give away to anther resident on my floor. who claimed he could not come up with $2 for the ticket. Chicago was outstanding, and he was very grateful that I gave him the ticket. As the band gained recognition and fame, I was so happy that I saw them before they made the big time.

This is the era with the greatest musicians of all time. One guy few know about is Roy Buchanan. All the guitar greats looked up to and learned from Roy. RIP Roy.
